People spend a lot of time backtesting trading strategies but neglect forward testing (demo trading). This is one of the most important activities for traders to do. When we were in school we learned a lot of information, but most of us struggled to apply that information in the real world. Most traders can sit in front of trading view and “backtest” all weekend, but not many of them can trade their strategy with consistency and discipline and through losses because they haven’t spent enough time forward testing. You need a period in your career where you can take trades without the burden of losing money. Focusing on the strategy is done through forward testing.
