In most organisations there are a myriad of issues identified that need to be addressed at some stage, but where do you record this information? It could be a leaking pipe, a balding tyre, a crack in foundations, and so on. How do you determine what needs to be fixed “now”, and what can wait till larger maintenance tasks are being undertaken? Who is accountable for defect in its current state? What is required to fix the defect? Should the asset be repaired or replaced? Can several of these defects be grouped together to close them out more cost-efficiently?
This presentation will cover Port Waratah’s journey through implementing the Maximo Defects application, how it has been transformed in recent times, and how it will form part of Port Waratah’s overall asset management strategy going forward.
