Описание: Full 2nd Half only – This game was filmed from the Main Stand gantry on Sunday 6th October 1985 at Highfield Road Stadium, Coventry at a rare time of 12 noon.

Back in the 1980’s, video tapes (low band U-Matic format) were expensive to buy and financially, Coventry City F.C. could not afford to buy new tapes. As a result of this, tapes had to be reused sometimes again and again. It is a practice that BBC and ITV also did, sometimes erasing classic programmes. In this case some great games I filmed didn’t survive the cull either. This game was one of those examples where the first half tape was reused but the second half tape somehow survived for over 40 years. Due to the first half tape being reused, David Bowman’s goal for Coventry City did not survive.

On this day (6th October) in 1985 the Sky Blues played an unusual Sunday morning fixture against Leicester City. Just over a week previously they had another Midland derby against West Bromwich Albion and triumphed by three clear goals scored by Micky Adams, Terry Gibson and Trevor Peake (all now CCFPA members). This morning they repeated the dose against the Foxes but there were only 10,956 in Highfield Road to see the 3-0 victory over the East Midlands’ side.
The Sky Blues established a single goal lead over the Foxes by half time thanks to an eighteenth minute strike from Dave Bowman. Leicester City no longer had Gary Lineker available to score goals (having been transferred to Everton) but replacement Mark Bright looked useful as did another new Foxes’ signing (from Motherwell), future Sky Blue player-manager Gary McAllister!
The game was virtually settled as early as two minutes into the second half when City’s diminutive striker Terry Gibson (another Association member now) doubled the Sky Blues lead.
Things were made certain three minutes later when big Cyrille Regis completed City’s quick one-two with a fiftieth minute strike. The greatly missed No.9 must have liked Sunday games as this was his first since his goal on the last day of the season in City’s 4-1 victory over Everton which kept the Sky Blues up!
