At least through the early primaries, insurgent candidates and discontent citizens have made Campaign ‘16 one of the strangest presidential races ever. Above, watch the replay of the Reading the Pictures campaign 2016 salon broadcast Sunday, March 20th, 2016. A panel of photo world and academic experts analyzed key photos of the race to date.
Panelists include: Karrin Anderson, Professor, Colorado State University; Todd Heisler, Staff Photographer, New York Times; Michael Shaw, Publisher, Reading The Pictures; Loret Steinberg, Associate Professor, Rochester Institute of Technology; Judy Walgren, Editorial Director, ViewFind.com, and moderator Cara Finnegan, Professor, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
The Reading The Pictures Salon is an on-line, real-time discussion between photojournalists, visual academics and other visual or subject experts. Each salon examines a set of images relevant to the visual stories of the day often focusing on how the media and social media has framed the event. The photo edit is the key element and driver of each Salon discussion and great care is taken to create a group of 10 photos that captures the depth and breadth of media representation.
Note: The photos discussed are also in the slideshow below. Also stay tuned as highlight clips from the discussion will be added to this post in the coming weeks.
