Crossrail's Eastern Tunnels Project Manager Peter Main gives an update about tunnelling operations in Docklands.
Crossrail's giant tunnelling machine Victoria has joined sister TBM Elizabeth in Canary Wharf box, after successfully breaking through on Tuesday 6 June.
Crossrail's eastern tunnelling machines were launched from the Limmo site near Canning Town towards the end of last year to create 8.3km (5.16 miles) of tunnels from east London to Farringdon -- Crossrail's longest tunnel section. A marathon-equivalent 26-mile (42km) section of tunnels beneath London will be built in total for Crossrail.
Both machines will now undergo maintenance inside the Canary Wharf station box before being transitted through the station box to resuming tunnelling towards central London.
