As Professor of the Practice and Co-Director of the Program on Law & Innovation and the Vanderbilt AI Law Lab, all at Vanderbilt Law School, Caitlin “Cat” Moon designs the J.D. curriculum for PoLI Institute with the goal of empowering students to lead in the innovation of 21st century legal services delivery. Professor Moon also founded and directs the PoLI Institute, which provides interactive post-graduate executive education to legal professionals. She also co-founded and produces the Summit on Law and Innovation (SoLI), which brings together experts across legal, technology and other disciplines in collaborative innovation projects.
In addition to her roles at Vanderbilt, Moon works with law firms, legal departments and law schools globally to apply the methods and mindsets of human-centered design to re-imagine leadership and legal professional formation and modernize the delivery of legal services. Her current research focuses on innovation leadership and legal professional formation and includes co-creation of a 21st century framework for lawyer competency, the Delta Model.
At Lone Star Legal Aid, Luigi has been translating the workflows of legal practice into self-help tools and process automation. They build technology that enhances public understanding of the law and expands service capacity for the organization to meet the needs of the communities they serve. They focus on the future of legal aid: intelligent automation for services, integrating public data into the workflows, and advocating for consumer-protective policies that support responsible technology in the sector.
Selena N. Hunn is a Deputy Director at the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). She provides leadership and strategic oversight for the Basic Field Grant Program and Technology Initiative Grant Program, which together direct over $520 million annually to nonprofit legal services organizations nationwide. Selena leads teams focused on grantmaking, oversight, and improving legal services delivery to advance access to justice. Selena joined LSC in 2019 and is a licensed Maryland attorney.
Katie began her legal career working at the Free Legal Aid Clinic (FLAC) while in law school. The experience working at FLAC shaped Katie’s legal career resulting in dedication to public service work and working to end domestic violence and improve the legal system’s responses to survivors.
Starting as a staff attorney at Lakeshore Legal Aid in 2007, Katie worked at the Counsel and Advocacy Law Line and represented high risk survivors in family law proceedings in Wayne County. In 2010, Katie went on to become the Director of the Solution Oriented Domestic Violence Prevention Court (SODVPC), a newly created specialty court within the Family Division of Wayne County Circuit Court. As the court grew, so did Katie’s responsibilities, eventually directing the SODVPC and the PPO docket. Katie was honored to begin serving the litigants of Wayne County as a Friend of the Court Referee in 2015.
In 2016 Katie left the court to return to Lakeshore Legal Aid as our Chief Operating Officer.
Katie is a member of the Access to Justice Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, is a past President of the Stonewall Bar Association (now the LGBTQIA+ section of the State Bar), and member of the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Katie spends her free time watching any sporting event that she can find and hanging out with her amazing wife and their two dogs, Betty White and Ruth Fernicus (Fern for short).
