you’ll spot a strange patch of land marked by a dashed border — not a solid one.

That’s Western Sahara, a territory claimed almost entirely by Morocco,
but partly controlled by a rebel movement known as the Polisario Front.
Between them stands the Moroccan Wall — a 2,700-kilometer stretch of sand, mines, and watchtowers —
dividing a land disputed for nearly five decades.

The U.N. calls it a “non-self-governing territory.”
Morocco calls it its “Southern Provinces.”
And the people who live there — they simply call it home.

From above, it’s just desert.
But on the map, it’s one of the last unresolved frontiers of the modern world.
