Donald and Melania Trump lay wreath at Tomb of the Unknown Warrior

Описание: President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey on Monday.  Trump and his wife crouched down to touch the wreath and then stepped back and stood in silence for several minutes with their eyes closed before the tomb that honors those who died during World War I.  Children from the Westminster choir sang behind the couple.  Prince Andrew accompanied the Trumps to Westminster Abbey for the solemn occasion.  Others in the US delegation included the president’s daughter, Ivanka, her husband, Jared Kushner, and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and his wife, Louise Linton.  Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the Dean of Westminster, the Very Rev. Dr. John Hall, escorted the Trumps on a tour of the historic landmark.  They stopped to view the High Altar, where coronations take place, and the tombs of Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I in the Lady Chapel.  The group also paused at the graves of Sir Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking.  The laying of the wreath came just hours after Trum​p arrived at Buckingham Palace where he met with Queen Elizabeth II at the start of his two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.  Later, Trump was scheduled to have afternoon tea with Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, and his wife, Camilla, at Clarence House.  This evening Trump and his wife will return to Buckingham Palace for a state banquet hosted by Elizabeth.
