The Bambiha gang has claimed responsibility via a social media post, calling the attack “revenge” for the 2022 murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. The gang alleged Balachauria had supported and sheltered those involved in Moosewala’s killing, and warned other Kabaddi players and their families against associating with certain teams.

The attack took place just half an hour before singer Mankirt Aulakh was scheduled to arrive at the venue, raising serious concerns over security at public sporting events. Punjab Police are verifying the claim and have intensified the investigation, with security tightened across the region to prevent further violence.
