2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon TJ- Vapor Canister Purge Valve Replacement

Описание: First off I am not a mechanic nor do I claim to know the best way to do this or any other project you may see on my page. This happens to be my personal experience.

This is not the greatest video because yet again it was an after thought. HOWEVER, I like to think of it helps one person it was worth it

My Jeep is a 2003 Wrangler Rubicon TJ. I've been getting an intermittent engine code P0456, despite resetting it multiple times, and it's becoming more frequent. I scoured the Internet, and people said it could be the gas cap, the lines, something at the tank, or the purge valve. I decided to start with the purge valve because the lines looked ok??? Most people who tried the gas cap said it wasn't the issue, and the purge valve was relatively inexpensive, $33 on Amazon.

Replacement took all of 10 minutes, and that was cleaning up. I did add a tiny bit of Vaseline around the boots to help slide them in. I have no idea if you should or not, but it worked great. The boots on my Jeep are a bit firm. probably need to change the lines at some point but....

UPDATE:
Having a bit of OCD at times helps. I happened to be wiping off some grime from my rear shocks, and when I was crawling around, I saw a hose that was split! I have to think that this was a contributing factor to the check engine light. I got a piece of hose from around the garage and slid it over them to get them to fit together, and then used electrical tape to seal the edges. Hopefully, this fixes the issue. In the meantime, having not found this hose, I ordered another gas cap, thinking that even though I had replaced it, maybe the seal was faulty? Let's keep our fingers crossed that one of these things fixes the code!

UPDATE: It did not fix the code, but I did find a hole in a vacuum line--- that did not fix the code either!!! LOL!!!! I think it is a roll-over valve on top of the gas tank. I have yet to tackle that project!
