"I think America hates Arabic people, not Arabic regimes. America hates the Arabic geography and the Arabic history. Therefore, we don't trust America and we don't have any hope that America one day will be rational and will behave in a human manner towards the Arabic Ummah (nation)."

"The enemy (Israel ) is not a traditional enemy, it's a strategic enemy. Zionist Israel, and behind that America, are a strategic enemy to the Ummah. So whether Cheney visits the Arab countries or not, American opinion or position will come to the Arab countries and reach the Arabic leaders and peoples by whatever means. So we don't pay much attention to any visit by any American."

STORYLINE:
Iraqi Vice-President Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri on Wednesday said that the United States was an enemy and warned that any US attack on Iraq would be inhuman.
His comments came after he met Lebanese President Emile Lahoud to discuss the latest developments in the region as well as Iraq's participation in an Arab summit scheduled to be held in Beirut at the end of March.
The vice president, who will himself head the Iraqi delegation to Beirut, refused to give any importance to the visit of US Vice-President Dick Cheney to the region, a visit aimed at getting Arab support for an attack on Iraq.
Lebanon is the third stop in Douri's tour that has, thus far, included Syria and Jordan.
His next destination is Cairo.
