What's more essential in today's world, compassion or competance?
Simran Oberoi Multani is a vegan baker from Bangalore who speaks about her
transformative journey from being a meat-eating non-vegetarian to vegetarian and finally a vegan.
She speaks about veganism as a way of life, extending it beyond dietary choices. Veganism isn’t just about not eating animals and animal products, but about not relying on animals in any form or fashion – not using fur nor wearing leather as well as eschewing other products that rely on animals. It is an entire life philosophy that embraces many more factors than just what you eat. She debunks the common myths associated with veganism urging the audience to give this alternative way of life a thought. Simran Oberoi is an entrepreneur, an individual who bakes for fun, happiness and cares a lot for the canines too. As an ardent supporter of the vegan lifestyle, she seeks to exclude, as far as possible, all forms of exploitation against animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. Simran is the founder of Ovenderful, a social enterprise which makes healthy, organic bakes that are free from preservatives, harmful additives and colours. Her vegan bakery delivers gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, zero fat, lactation-friendly baked goodies in Bangalore, India. Simran has a simplistic approach to veganism, and she believes that veganism as a diet is no inferior to another; nor is it expensive and bland as it is made out to be. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
