I visited Wakkanai and went to Cape Soya on March 07, 2025. Limited express ticket train fare is 10,560 yen per way (non-reserved seating). I initially booked a reserved seat though I did not get my preferred seat which was a window seat. I only learned of the non-reserved seating when I got on the train. I though all limited express trains operating in Hokkaido are strictly reserved seating only. Luckily, I was able to secure a non-reserved window seat, left side.
I bought the Hokkaido Rail Pass (5 days) for 21,000 yen. I also used the Rail Pass when I explored Kushiro. One-way fare to Kushiro is 9,990 yen (reserved seating only).
