Every year, over 3,000 visas are allocated to Pacific countries under the PALM scheme program in Australia. Papua New Guinea has the highest number of visa holders, with up to 1,350 compared to other Pacific countries.
Internal Affairs Minister, Hon. Johnny Koanapo, informed VBTC News after his visit to Australia that the Australian government is introducing the 'Pacific Engagement Visa' starting in 2024. This visa allows workers to become permanent residents in Australia. Koanapo highlighted that this presents a significant opportunity for Vanuatu.
