Los Angeles - 24 April 2024
1. SOUNDBITE (English) Chris Pine, actor/director:
"They say, write about what you know. And I grew up in LA and all these things in Los Angeles that I love. Like, there was a Hanna-Barbera studio on Cahuengua that got torn down. And they made these ugly lofts that made me sad. So I threw that in there. I love 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' because it described why we don't have red trolley cars on the streets anymore. You know, I mean, this is my city. This is my town. I grew up in the business. So there's a lot of meta upon meta upon meta stuff in here."
(Reporter: "Were there any that people were, like, pushing back on, like, that's too specific?"
SOUNDBITE (English) Chris Pine, actor/director:
"My whole film is what people pushed back on. It's a loud, busy, dense film full of a s*** ton of LA, and I call it like it's, the film is more of a wavelength than it is a film, maybe. So it's you either kind of are into it or you're kind of not."
