The day before the protest, the Hafta panel sat down to discuss these questions. On the role of protests in a democracy, veteran journalist Neerja Chowdhury says, “You know the soul of a nation dies if you cannot speak out... I think there’s a lot of concern and worry about how it's (the CJP protest) going to pan out within the establishment. I hope they will not arrest him (Abhijeet Dipke).”

While Manisha Pande doesn’t offer a prediction, she remarks, “I think one thing this government clearly knows is that UPA-2 fell because of IAC. They crack down on protesters because they know how a protest can go out of hand. I think they’re very cognizant of that. But it’s been really interesting to see this government struggle with responding to the CBSE case.”
