ROSE GARDEN
The Rose Garden is a prominent attraction of Ooty in Tamilanadu visited by thousands of travellers round the year. Spread over an area of 10 acres, the orchard is one of the biggest rose gardens in India. Arranged in curved terraces, the rose orchard houses more than hundred varieties of roses including miniature roses, hybrid tea roses, ramblers and much more. Many of the rose species were brought from several parts of the world including Australia.
The pride of Ooty lies in the Rose Garden, which belongs to an elite club of 35 rose gardens around the world which has won the Garden of Excellence Award for South Asia from the World Federation of Rose Societies. Containing more than twenty thousand variety of roses the Rose Garden is one of the most beautiful and well maintained gardens you find the country, or perhaps, the world.
The Rose Garden was started to commemorate the centenary Flower show of the Botanical Garden in 1995, Maintained by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
You are bound to feel like you have entered a different world as you stroll leisurely across the beautifully landscaped garden.
There is a viewpoint in the garden called Nila Maadam, from where one can get a breathtaking view of the entire landscape.
If you are visiting during the peak flowering season in summer (March to June), one may catch the flower show at the Ooty Rose Garden. Visitors can purchase saplings or buy bouquets for their loved ones.

How to Reach Ooty
Since Ooty is a popular hill station of the country, it is accessible easily from the rest of the country through air, railways and even by road. A decent network of railways and road help you reach the Queen of the Hills.
• Ooty is connected to major cities and towns in south india via good roads. It is easily accessible from cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Mysore, Bangalore, Kochi and Calicut.
Buses to Ooty ply from all major cities in south india.
* Southern Railways connect the rest of the India with Ooty. Regular night trains are available to take you to Ooty.
Coimbatore is the nearest railway junction, the Nilgiri Toy Train is also a good option to reach Ooty. The Toy Train can be availed from the Mettupalayam station (52 kms) that helps passengers reach Ooty.
• The nearest airport to Ooty happens to be Coimbatore, located at a distance of 88 kilometres. Once you reach the airport, buses and cars are easily available that can take you to Ooty.
