The way the upper and lower jaw come together into your bite is what is referred to as “occlusion” and if you have an uneven bite or misalignment, this affects the position of your jaw joints. One of the most common problems seen with TMJ is called “Internal TMJ Derangement.” This means that the disc or ligaments holding your jaw in place are soft structures and overtime have become altered and elongated- causing the jaw to click, pop, lock, etc.
