Praying mantises can do something few insects can, rotate their heads up to 180 degrees while the rest of their body stays perfectly still.
This unsettling ability comes from their uniquely flexible neck muscles and specialised joints, allowing them to scan their surroundings without moving their body at all. It helps them track prey, avoid predators, and maintain their eerie statue-like stillness.
Unlike most insects, mantises don’t rely on moving their entire body to look around, they simply twist their head slowly, deliberately… and terrifyingly.
Nature didn’t create an exorcist — but it got pretty close.
