This International Women's Day we are releasing five clips from the film 'A Practice Of Freedom', exploring themes around motherhood and surfing with five mothers from the North East of England at varying stages along the surfing and parenting journey. According to the ONS, 82% of women in the U.K. are mothers by the time they are 45 years old. Rarely does the reality of this get taken into account within surfings storytelling; rarely are we spoken to as mothers by a surf brand or a surf media outlet.

The full film screened in 2023 at in-person events and was made with the support of @finisterre. It was something we were incredibly passionate about here at Yonder.
