How to Clean an Empty Inground Swimming Pool with a Power / Pressure Washer
Simple Tips From A Simple Guy
1. Put on your work boots. (Shorts and Shirt optional)
2. Buy or rent a pump from local store such as Home Depot or Lowe's.
3. Drain Pool. Start by putting pump in shallow end then as pool water decreases, move the pump down towards deep end. Don't pick up pump by electrical cord, only by the garden hose connected at top.
4. Once empty, Hook up the power washer and start using from shallow end to deep end.
5. Keep pump at deep end to help suck up the excessive water used by the power washer. Remove any sludge with a plastic shovel. Clean area where pump is at.
6. If you are going to re paint pool, make sure any and all bubbles are popped and it wont further flake off wall. Then you can use a pool epoxy paint to repaint it.
Caution! If there are any hard stubborn spots that wont remove by power washing , you can use a solution with Muriatic acid in a 5 gallon bucket and a deck brush. Be sure to dilute it well and use PPE if using. Then power wash the acid off and the pump can drain it just fine. BTW, don't have the output of the water (hose connected to pump) emptying out in your yard but find a way to put that end of the hose down a drain such as a clean out drain. You don't want that acid in your yard or streets.
