This repair provides a 'Do-it-Yourself" fix for a broken latch of the cleaning head module of your iRobot Roomba vacuum. Within 10 minutes, you can solve the problem of the brushes or the rollers falling out because of a broken latch. This Brush Door Latch or brush holder is compatible with your Roomba E5 E6 i1 i2 i3 i4 i5 i6 i7 i8 j5 J6 J7 J8 j9 i1+ i2+ i3+ i4+ i5+ i6+ i7 plus i8+ j5 j6+ j7+ j8+ j9+ as well as the i5 combo j7 combo j8 combo and j9 combo (including plus models) and is also compatible with the max 10 roomba. Compatible with all i-series j-series and e-series roombas and the max 10.

We developed this 3D printed latch roller brush holder for the e i and j series roombas (including the combo roombas) and max 10 with the assistance of kaylarts, digital artist.

Do you find your brushes are no longer staying in place in your roomba? Are you getting brush errors? It likely means your latch is broken. These brush holders or latches can break in half or the hinge part completely breaks off and they no longer hold the brushes in place making the vacuum unusable. We did some research and the cost of an original iRobot replacement latch was almost as much as buying a brand new cleaning head module! Even with trying to crazy glue the latch back together (not all can be glued), they will break again as the area that has been glued becomes the weakest point of the latch. This leaves an entire cleaning head module yet again without being able to secure the brushes in place. If you are replacing with the same designed latch what is the probability that it will happen again?

So after a customer came to us with a broken latch, we felt it was time to design one and come up with one that didn’t have multiple pieces and less moving parts. We spent countless hours trying to figure out a replacement that could be 3D printed, can be easily installed, yet retrofitted into the existing cleaning head module. We went through many designs to find the right one. What we eventually came up with was a complete latch that had the ability to click or lock in place inside the existing brush module and without any assembly required. It can be screwed in place with the existing screw from the broken latch. We also designed these to be snug fitting so they need to be firmly closed to be clicked fully in place. If you find the latch popping out on its own, it means you haven’t pushed it down firm enough or it may have gotten caught on something while vacuuming.

We have created this video to show you how to easily install this latch within about 5 - 10 minutes. You only need a Philips screwdriver. The video also shows how to use the latch to lock and to unlock the brushes or rollers. We have been using our brush holder in our personal j7 plus roomba for the past 6 months and it’s been working perfectly!
