How to repack coffee roaster bearings

Описание: For anyone who owns or operates a drum coffee roaster, knowing how to repack coffee roaster bearings is important. Coffee roasting machines big and small have moving parts and experience high temperatures. This video shows you how to repack coffee roaster bearings on a commercial coffee roaster.
On my Mill City 500 Gram Coffee Roaster, the front bearing experiences high temps and the bearing grease seems to burn up over time and then i hear squeaking and rumbling noises. After replacing these a couple of times, I realized that these commercial bearings probably have standard industrial grease. This isn't a Mill City issue because they don't make the bearings. These are common KFL000 industrial bearings.

I purchased new bearings on Ebay because i recognized the brand PGN and they specialize in many types of industrial bearings
PB-KFL000/2 KFL000 Premium Pillow Block Bearing, 10mm Bore, FL000 Flange Bearing (2 PCS)

I opened them up, cleaned them out, removing the existing standard grease and repacked them with high temperature grease. Since then I have not had any issues! When my roaster is hot I don't smell any oily smells. The grease I used is NOT food safe grease. I am not roasting coffee to sell and honestly, this bearing is on the outside of the machine and does not come in contact with the actual drum or beans at any time.

Are you continually replacing your bearings on your coffee roaster? It could be because the bearings do not have high temperature grease. The standard grease from the bearing manufacturer cooks away because of the higher temperatures of your coffee roaster.
