After a short bus ride from Stranraer to Portpatrick, we began our journey on the Southern Upland Way. It was a great coastal walk for a few km’s before heading inland. Plan A was to get to Castle Kennedy and wild camp. It was forecast for heavy rain so if it did rain, Plan B was to get a taxi back to Stranraer from Castle Kennedy for a B&B. It didn’t rain, so we amended Plan A and Plan C was to wild camp as we passed Castle Kennedy. It was a long day, probably too long for a first day, but we parked ourselves in a corner away from any animals
