A culture deprived of its children will not survive. Yet at one point in our nation's history an alarming number of Native children were removed from their homes and placed with non-Native foster and adoptive homes, damaging the thread connecting the child and their culture. This film examines the impact of this phenomenon and the drafting, enacting and implementation of the Wisconsin Indian Child Welfare Act.
This film was chosen as 2016 Best Short Documentary by the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience, and was awarded a Golden Reel in the Documentary/Shorts category by the Media Communications Association - International. It is also a finalist for the 2016 Media for a Just Society Awards through the National Council on Crime and Delinquency.
