1 예수 그리스도의 종 바울은 사도로 부르심을 받아 하나님의 복음을 위하여 택정함을 입었으니
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God-

2 이 복음은 하나님이 선지자들을 통하여 그의 아들에 관하여 성경에 미리 약속하신 것이라
the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures

3 그의 아들에 관하여 말하면 육신으로는 다윗의 혈통에서 나셨고
regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David,

4 성결의 영으로는 죽은 자들 가운데서 부활하사 능력으로 하나님의 아들로 선포되셨으니 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도시니라
and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

5 그로 말미암아 우리가 은혜와 사도의 직분을 받아 그의 이름을 위하여 모든 이방인 중에서 믿어 순종하게 하나니
Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.

6 너희도 그들 중에서 예수 그리스도의 것으로 부르심을 받은 자니라
And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

7 로마에서 하나님의 사랑하심을 받고 성도로 부르심을 받은 모든 자에게 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 있기를 원하노라
To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

8 먼저 내가 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 너희 모든 사람에 관하여 내 하나님께 감사함은 너희 믿음이 온 세상에 전파됨이로다
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

9 내가 그의 아들의 복음 안에서 내 심령으로 섬기는 하나님이 나의 증인이 되시거니와 항상 내 기도에 쉬지 않고 너희를 말하며
God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you

10 어떻게 하든지 이제 하나님의 뜻 안에서 너희에게로 나아갈 좋은 길 얻기를 구하노라
in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.

11 내가 너희 보기를 간절히 원하는 것은 어떤 신령한 은사를 너희에게 나누어 주어 너희를 견고하게 하려 함이니
I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong-

12 이는 곧 내가 너희 가운데서 너희와 나의 믿음으로 말미암아 피차 안위함을 얻으려 함이라
that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.

13 형제들아 내가 여러 번 너희에게 가고자 한 것을 너희가 모르기를 원하지 아니하노니 이는 너희 중에서도 다른 이방인 중에서와 같이 열매를 맺게 하려 함이로되 지금까지 길이 막혔도다
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

14 헬라인이나 야만인이나 지혜 있는 자나 어리석은 자에게 다 내가 빚진 자라
I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
