In this lesson we break down a fundamental side control escape built on structure and timing.
We begin by establishing strong frames with our hands and forearms, creating space at the neck and hips to prevent our opponent from settling their weight. The priority is building structure first before attempting to move.
From there, we execute a strong bridge to disrupt their balance and immediately follow with a shrimp to create separation. As we move our hips away, we insert our top knee inside to establish a knee shield and recover inside position.
Once the knee is in place, we re-square our hips and transition to open guard or close our guard, depending on the reaction. The focus is on proper framing, explosive timing, and clean hip movement to recover guard efficiently.
