Found in between the station platforms of Rhoose Cardiff International Airport Station, this level crossing is located in the village of Rhoose which is found just next to Cardiff International Airport only a few miles west of Barry. One of the alarms at this level crossing has more recently become incredibly faulty and water-damaged, and it produces a pretty nasty-sounding tone which isn't even consistent in its pitch! The rest of this level crossing, whilst not the newest anymore (apart from the other alarm's sounder), is holding up fairly well. The adjacent station, hence the name, serves the airport, and a shuttle bus will arrive to meet both trains of the hourly stopping passenger service here to take passengers to and from the airport for the rail / air connection. The bus will then sit in a bus stop only a few metres from the level crossing and will leave when all passengers of the second train to stop in the station requiring it have boarded.
This station is also located near Rhoose Point, and just a 5-minute walk from it you'll find a very pretty rocky coastline at the bank of the Bristol Channel, just over the other side of which is Watchet in Somerset, England. The coastline at Rhoose is very scenic, and is worth a look if you're in the area!
Thanks for watching!
