Siouxsie - Ancienne Belgique, Brussels - May 3, 2023 (partly hidden camera)

Описание: This is the reason why my video looks as it did, I had to film with my phone being partly hidden. My left hand visible on the picture in parts of the video was to guard my phone being seen by a guard from left. I stood in front position, so they could see and react to me, but they allowed people behind me to film.

My email to the venue on May 4:

Dear AB,

It was a true joy seeing Siouxsie yesterday, but half of the joy was spoiled when one of your guards asked me (standing in front) and others not to film with our mobile phones.

Later, it seemed as if you accepted it when judging from all people behind me filming, but there were still two guards in front, who may have looked after if we filmed at the front and what would happen, if we did?

I always film at concerts and I have never experienced a ban not to film with mobile phones. The tickets also stated nothing of the kind. And the young female photographer of your venue as I stood right behind was also almost schocked when seeing this ban.

Can you please tell me what happened, was it only one guard not thinking, or what?

Hi Stig,

You’re right, normally we don’t mind when people film. It was specifically asked by Siouxsie that we try and stop people from using their phone during the concert. Here below her message that we put on our website, socials and the screens.

"Live in the moment not through your lens! Try to enjoy the experience as much as you can, think about people behind you and keep your phone in your pockets also think about others who haven't seen the show so maybe don't post them yet. Thanks, Siouxsie"

Second answer:

Dear Stig,

Thank you for your email.

The ban to film or not is entirely at the discretion of the artists/band management.

It was at their request that no filming would be allowed in the venue.

We had anticipated that some would obviously try and get away with it, and other, in the view of our security would be asked to stop filming.

We can of course not speak for the guards yesterday as I was not there, but I transmitted your email to our Chief Hospitality, in order to avoid simular situations.

We offer you our most sincere apologies and wish you a nice day.

Thank you for your kind reply. To me, Siouxsie did wrong when taking away freedom of people as she values herself so much as a basic value, which is what all of her background is about.
