The company that makes KTM bikes is now bankrupt. But does this mean KTM bikes will disappear from India too?
KTM AG was the largest motorcycle manufacturing company in all of Europe.
They used to produce over 1,000 bikes in a single day and even surpassed brands like BMW and Ducati.
But now, KTM has filed for bankruptcy.
The company is now burdened with a debt of approximately ₹27,000 crore.
KTM's market value has also plummeted by 89% from its peak, now standing at just ₹3,000 crore.
But how did KTM suffer such huge losses?
Basically, KTM's sales in the US and Europe dropped significantly, leading to major financial losses.
The company now has only 90 days to raise funds to save itself from sinking completely.
India's Bajaj Auto owns a 49.9% stake in KTM.
In India, Bajaj Auto manages KTM’s business operations.
For now, Bajaj has stated that KTM’s bankruptcy will have no impact on its operations in India.
