Sailing with my family in the San Blas Islands was way different to what I thought it was going to be. It was much more about spending time with each other rather than a culture exchange with the Kuna people.
The San Blas are absolute stunning but I don't really know how I feel about the whole experience (apart from spending time with the fam). Tourism is the Kunas peoples main source of income but it didn't seem like they were that happy with it. People would come and take photos on the islands for a couple bucks then leave. There was no interaction on either side except the exchange of money. I don't know if thats how the prefer it or if that has what has happened over time but it left me feeling like I really missed out.
