Shey Phoksundo National Park provides a diversity of spectacular landscapes. Elevations in the park range from 2,130m in Ankhe to 6,883m at the summit of Kanjiroba Himal. Much of the park lies north of the Himalayan crest. Nepal’s deepest and second largest lake, Phoksundo Lake, lies in upper regions of Suligad. Near the lake’s outlet is the country’s highest waterfall.Phoksundo Lake is famous for its magnificent turquoise color and te spectacular scenery clearly rank it with the most scenic mountain parks in the world. Ringmo village, a typical Tibetan village, is scenically nestled in the area.Thashung Gompa located near Phoksundo Lake was built about 900 years ago to conserve wildlife.
Itinerary Description:
1.First day: Leave home at 3 o'clock and catch bus to Radi village (Rukum West). Ticket were brought early so as to get comfortable seats as the route is about 26 hrs long. Ticket price 3200 per person
2.Second day: Whole day same bus ride and reached Radi Bazzar at 6 PM and stay there at hotel near by. Expenses 1000 per person
3.Third day: Started journey at 6 am and reached suligad at 6 pm. It is last step upto which we can travel by vehicle. On that day due to monsoon season high velocity of rivers led us to exchange 6 jeeps to reach Suligad. This day travel was difficult as well as expensive as we thee have to reserve whole jeep to make it move Since waiting for jeep to be full was not an option for us. After reaching at suligad we walked about 30 min paid 100 rs entrance ticket to Shey phoksundo National park and stay at near by hotel. Total expenses that day was 5000 per person. (Note if your group is large then cost drastically decreases on transportation)
4. Fourth day: Started our journey at 7 am from National park ticket counter and walked 4 hrs to reach Chekpa where we had Lunch and then walked 5 hour to Jharna hotel (Chunuwa Dolpa) and stay night there. Expenses per person 1200 rs
5. Fifth day: Started uphill trekking at 7 am and reached to Shey phoksundo Lake at 10 am. This day trek was very difficult as we have to walk uphill for 2 hrs and 30 minutes followed by additional 45 min walk from Jharana view point. Cost 1500 per person.
Then started returning back take 2 night stay at various place and reached juphal third day morning and took flight to Nepaljung cost 6775 rs and same day return to ktm via flight from Nepaljung cost 6800 rs and from Ktm airport to godawari by Pathoo bike cost 300 rs. and reached home by 12 am.
