This can be really frustrating especially for Adobe Illustrator beginners. Dragging your swatch into the swatches panel doesn’t work, the new swatch option is grayed out, and you just don’t know why. But I’m here to tell you a few of the reasons why and how to solve the issues!

In this video we will talk about the reasons why you can’t make a new swatch from the artwork, color, or pattern that you are trying to add into the Adobe Illustrator swatches panel. We will also talk about how to troubleshoot each of these reasons so that you can make your new swatches every time!
