What should you expect after a vascular procedure?

When you’ve had an arterial treatment—like a balloon angioplasty, stent placement, or bypass surgery—healing takes time and follow-up is key.

Here’s what to expect:

✅ 1 week after your procedure: A follow-up visit to check your incision site, ensure good blood flow, and confirm everything looks healthy.

✅ 1 month later: An ultrasound to verify that your stent or bypass is working as intended.

✅ 2–3 weeks to heal: Most wounds begin improving during this time with coordinated care from your vascular team, wound care specialist, or podiatrist.

Even after your wounds heal, ongoing check-ups help ensure your circulation stays strong and other areas—like your carotid arteries—remain healthy.
