🧪 Objective:
To find the unit weight of sand under loose, rodded, and compacted conditions for use in material quality assessment.

⚙️ Apparatus Used:

Standard cylindrical mold

Balance

Tamping rod

Straight edge

Shovel and tray


🔬 Test Procedure:
1️⃣ Weigh the empty mold (W₁).
2️⃣ Fill the mold with sand in three equal layers.
3️⃣ Compact each layer using the tamping rod.
4️⃣ Level the surface with a straight edge.
5️⃣ Weigh the filled mold (W₂).
6️⃣ Calculate unit weight

📊 Result:
The test gives the bulk density and void ratio of sand, which helps engineers ensure proper mix proportioning and construction quality.
