Описание: The Padma Awards were instituted in 1954 by the Government of India.

They are among the highest civilian honours of India (after the Bharat Ratna).

They recognise individuals for “distinguished service” — in various fields such as arts, literature & education, science & engineering, medicine, public affairs, social work, civil service, trade & industry, sports, and more.

The awards are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day (26 January).

Final selection is done by a committee (Padma Awards Committee), appointed annually by the Prime Minister. Nominations/recommendations can come from any citizen or by self-nomination.
