The Trudeau Liberals campaigned heavily in 2015 on improving the economy, particularly for middle-class Canadians. This is a laudable goal and one with which we agree. Unfortunately, many of the policies introduced since the Liberals were elected have restrained economic growth. As the Liberals stressed during their time in opposition and now in government, policies must be evidence-driven, and evidence is mounting that the government’s approach isn’t working.

If the rest of the media were honestly revealing his many miscues, as the Sun has done, Justin Trudeau’s poll numbers would be much lower. What is saving Trudeau, mostly, is an ineffective Official Opposition Party led by Andrew Sheer and the fact the NDP is still floundering under its unknown new leader.

Trudeau’s top priority has been legalizing pot, while he and Finance Minister Bill Morneau have been subject to ethics investigations.

Justin Trudeau is wrong: Diversity isn't Canada's strength

It's one of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's favourite turns of phrase: "Canada's strength comes from our diversity." In his official statement after the alleged terrorist attack in Edmonton he invoked it, and whether the occasion is celebratory, tragic or anything in between, he never misses an opportunity to say that diversity is our strength. He's made it his brand identity, because the line's a political winner.

But it misses something about what makes our society strong, and what Islamist-inspired terrorists, fascists on the right and so-called anti-fascists on the left all seek to destroy.
