Before becoming an actor, Tom was a notable college athlete and served in the Vietnam War. During college, he fell in love with the art of acting and decided to drop out his senior year. He subsequently studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse and began receiving roles in television shows and commercials. Eventually, Tom was appearing in films, including the 1970 Western The Sacketts.

Tom was given his role on Magnum, P.I. in 1980, and the role ate up the remainder of the actor’s decade. He was offered the role of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark but had to turn it down due to his contractual obligation to CBS. In 1990, Tom performed in the Western film Quigley Down Under. His turn in that film has become regarded as some of the actor’s strongest and most notable work.

In 2010, Tom returned to television with Blue Bloods. The show is still on the air and will premiere in its twelfth season in October of 2021. Still, rumors persist that Tom may be looking to call it quits at any moment. Join Facts Verse as we explore the sad reason Tom Selleck is saying goodbye.
