►In this video I'll be going through and replacing my rear brakes, rotors and calipers on my 2008 4Runner! It's pretty simple and straightforward


►EDIT:
Make sure you loosen the parking brake by loosening the adjuster located at the bottom of the rotor. That'll allow you to remove the rotor without damaging the parking brake hardware like I did.

Turn the rotor to line the hole at the bottom and stick a screwdriver in there, you'll feel a gear. The direction will matter if you're on the driver or passenger side, so follow carefully;
DRIVER SIDE: Spin the gear DOWN to loosen and UP to tighten.
PASSENGER SIDE: Spin the gear UP to loosen and DOWN to tighten.
To remove the rotor, you only need to loosen it about 3-6 clicks.

When you're installing the rotor again, you'll need to adjust your parking brake so it'll work correctly.

Easiest way to do it is to put the rotor on, install two lugnuts so the rotor will stay in place. Then tighten the parking brake adjuster until you can't anymore, at this point the rotor shouldn't be able to spin. Then you back off a few clicks until you can spin the rotor and hear the parking brake shoes slightly drag. It shouldn't be hard to spin, but it also should just spin completely freely. If you back off too much then your parking brake won't engage properly.

Make sure you follow that so you don't make the same mistake like I did!


If your rotor is still stuck after loosening the parking brake, use two M8x1.25 bolts and screw them into the two spots on the rotor. It'll allow your rotor to pop off without using a hammer to break the rust free.
