Russia’s Federal Security Service says it has foiled a Ukraine-linked assassination plot targeting Lieutenant General Alexeyev, the first deputy head of Russia’s GRU. According to the FSB, the assassin admitted he was recruited by Ukraine’s Security Service, paid in cryptocurrency, and sent to Russia for long-term surveillance before carrying out the hit. Investigators claim the operation involved rented apartments, a silenced pistol, elevator ambush planning, and a planned escape route out of Russia after the attack. Confessions, airport footage, weapons, and digital payments have now been released as Moscow accuses Kyiv of orchestrating a covert intelligence operation on Russian soil.
