NETHERLANDS: Ruurlo Castle & Museum 4K

Описание: Ruurlo Castle was already mentioned in 1326 and has been in the hands of the Dutch noble family Van Heeckeren since the 15th century. From the 1980s it served as the town hall of Ruurlo. Due to the merger with Borculo, Eibergen and Neede in 2005 it lost its purpose. In 2013 Hans Melchers bought the castle and estate and had it thoroughly restored.

Because the castle was under permanent construction throughout the previous centuries, the building consists of a mixture of architectural styles.

Since 2017 the castle is part of the MORE museum. The main exhibition focuses on the life and work of grandmaster Carel Willink. The arrangement shows the development of a searching artist, who later develops as the never-before-seen painter. https://www.museummore-kasteelruurlo....

The castle is surrounded by an English landscape garden. During the restoration of the castle park, 19th century design features were taken into account. The garden is freely accessible, also to non-museum visitors.

The former orangery (1879) near the castle, has been rebuild in 2003 into a restaurant and tea house 'Oranjerie Ruurlo'. It can also be rented out for special occasions, like weddings. Located in the castle park, it can be freely accessed. https://www.oranjerieruurlo.nl
