If you are a Central Government employee and face service-related issues, your case should generally be taken up in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). However, many times aggrieved employees approach the High Court, and their petitions are dismissed due to the availability of alternative remedy in CAT.
On the other hand, State Government employees can file writ petitions under Article 226 of the Constitution, but only when no State Administrative Tribunal is available in their state.
