Members of Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 15) debated the findings and recommendations from a Committee of Privileges (COP) inquiry into the conduct of former Workers' Party (WP) MP Raeesah Khan, after the COP found Ms Khan guilty of abuse of privilege for telling untruths to Parliament twice last year.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Parliament said Singapore is “heading for trouble” if it lets “flagrant, egregious” transgressions pass. He added that referring the Workers’ Party leaders to the public prosecutor is the “best way forward”. https://cna.asia/3GRmwU0
WP chief and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh rejected the COP findings, stating in Parliament that the “gaps and omissions” in the report suggested political partisanship. https://cna.asia/3BknwPq
Leader of the House Indranee Rajah said the accounts of Ms Khan and WP leadership about whether she was acting under guidance or acting on her own in lying in Parliament a second time are “diametrically opposed”. https://cna.asia/3LLDIhI
