The USN aircraft carriers launch an aerial attack against the last operational Japanese aircraft carriers (Fleet carrier Zuikaku and 3 smaller escort carriers) off Cape Engano, near the Philippines.
The Japanese carriers are sunk, but by now they are mere decoys, because Japan has run out of trained pilots for carrier warfare.
By luring Admiral Halsey's fleet carriers North towards Cape Engano, the Japanese carriers have enabled Battleship Yamato and Center Force to enter Leyte Gulf undetected and to attack USN Task Force Taffy 3 (SEE MY OTHER 2 VIDEOS ON "BATTLESHIP YAMATO AND THE BATTLE OF LEYTE GULF").
