It Must Be Love is a 1940 animated short from the Terrytoons studio featuring Gandy Goose. The cartoon was released on April 5, 1940 and directed by Connie Rasinski, with story contributions from John Foster, Donald McKee, and Tom Morrison. In the short, Gandy Goose attempts to woo his sweetheart by bringing her gifts such as flowers and candy, but a rival suitor interferes and takes her canoeing instead. When things go wrong during the outing, Gandy gets the chance to prove himself and save the day in classic Terrytoons slapstick fashion. The cartoon runs about seven minutes and features music by Philip A. Scheib and voice work by Arthur Kay as Gandy Goose. Like many Terrytoons shorts of the era, the story mixes musical sequences with romantic comedy gags centered around Gandy’s clumsy attempts at love.
