Sarajevo- the scene of many turbulent events.
Now recovered. And beautiful.
However, in September 2019, I had my own turbulent incident in this capital.
A man, displaced from a war torn country and without anything to call his own, walked onto a road, in my direction. He pulled a large knife out of his shirt and headed towards me. Not ME, but I was in the general direction. 4 young men crash tackled the man to the ground. I was thankful.
It was surreal.
Not for one minute did the incident make me feel that Sarajevo, or Bosnia I Herzegovina, is a dangerous place. It was a random event. Featuring a person with nothing left to lose. In a place that he would not choose to call home, had he not had to flee his actual home. I imagine he felt much anger and fear... I can't comprehend those feelings as I have never experienced the situation.
