Freeze was one of the very few — and for many years the most consistent — magazines in Greece dedicated to electronic music and underground club culture.
The magazine was originally founded and owned by Giannis Argyros and Elena, who shaped its first identity and established Freeze as a platform focused on electronic sounds, DJ culture and the evolving underground scene in Greece and abroad.
In 2008, Freeze Magazine was acquired by Haris Papadimitriou, who took over ownership and became actively involved in the magazine’s content and direction. Beyond his role as publisher, Haris also contributed written material, continuing Freeze not just as a business, but as a living part of the scene.
The Editor of Freeze during a key period of its life was Dimitris Lazaridis, whose editorial work played an essential role in shaping the magazine’s tone, structure and quality. His contribution helped maintain a coherent identity and journalistic depth at a time when electronic music media in Greece was still limited.
Freeze was never the result of a single person. Over the years, it was supported by a close circle of contributors who helped sustain its voice and spirit through texts, ideas and long-term involvement. Among those who consistently supported the magazine were Fofi Tsesmeli, Agent Greg, and argy echosense, each contributing in their own way to its content, perspective and connection to the wider electronic music community.
More than just a magazine, Freeze functioned as a collective platform, documenting and supporting electronic music in Greece during a period when there were no social media tools, no streaming platforms, and very limited access to international scenes. It played a key role in connecting local artists, DJs and audiences with global electronic culture.
Freeze Magazine remains an important chapter in the history of Greek electronic music — not as a product, but as a shared effort, shaped by people deeply involved in the scene and driven by genuine passion rather than trends.
