Описание: The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck by Kim Krans was the second deck I purchased for my deep dive into Tarot and Astrology, which is fitting as it is part of the same series and shares a similar aesthetic.

The deck is made up of 63 cards, divided by the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Spirit. The animals work their way up from prey to apex predator for each category (minus the Spirit category, which is divided into Chakras). The descriptions provided in the guidebook for each of the elements are as follows:

Earth - creatures of the field and forest
Water - creatures of the oceans, rivers and lakes
Fire - creatures of the desert and grasslands
Air - creatures of the sky
Spirit - creatures of the ether

The guidebook includes a breakdown of the different elements, animal food web, sample spreads and detailed descriptions of each of the cards, including keywords, a paragraph summary and three indicators of being in balance, out of balance and how to achieve balance.

I love working with this deck, the animal imagery is stunning and very easy for me to connect to. I especially love the Spirit element category, which includes the Phoenix, Sea Serpent, Dragon, Golden Egg, Black Egg, Unicorn and Cosmic Egg. I have been working with a lot of Phoenix energy over the past 5+ years, and it doesn't surprise me that this card has come up most often for me in my card pulls from this deck.

A pocket edition of the Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck was released in 2022, following the original indie publication in 2017 and mass market publication in 2018.

Kim Krans has published a series of Wild Unknown decks. In addition to the Animal Spirit the series also includes the Wild Unknown Tarot, Archetypes and Alchemy decks.
