Saber Hossain Chowdhury understood from a very young age that if his country was to live up to the many challenges it was facing, women should be empowered. Saber Hossain Chowdhury became a Member of the Bangladeshi Parliament in 1996. He was elected as the 28th President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in 2014 and appointed as a Disaster Risk Reduction Champion by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2012.
