Earlier this month, President Trump established a White House Task Force for the 2028 Summer Olympics. The task force, that Trump will chair, is aimed at keeping the 2028 games in Los Angeles safe, seamless, and "a premiere opportunity to showcase American Exceptionalism." Trump did not rule out deploying military or National Guardsmen to fulfill that promise. Following the announcement, LA Times columnist Gustavo Arellano penned a piece "L.A. Never Needed the Olympics. With Trump Wanting in, it's time to Pull Out." Arellano joins Micah Ohlman and Cher Calvin to make his case. August 12, 2025.
